Hi Alex! Thanks for the recommendations. I've heard a lot of wonderful things about Kris Carr!

And I also really liked the way Skinny Bitch was written, it was funny, honest, and backed up with lots of facts. I find the people who get MOST angry about it, are the ones that are really having the hardest time with health.

Thanks for stopping by!

Well as it turns out I bought "Skinny Bitch" for fun at the coach station last October. I am not the kind to read diet books but I started reading the first page and almost peed in my pants laughing!
I had absolutely no idea it was about going vegan but after I read it I stopped eating animal products and never looked back.
This was such a wake up call for me and I really thought that anyone who would read it would feel the same.
So I recommended it to most of my friends. To my surprise most were very skeptical and critical about it. One of them even said she hated it and it was "bullshit and brain wash" (though she could really do with losing a few pounds...), I strongly suspect she didn't even finish reading the book.
It's really hard to face this kind of reaction, especially when it comes from people that you really care about.

Ah well...

On a different note, another excellent book is "the Thrive Diet" by Brendan Brazier. He is a young ironman athlete who put this plant based / mostly raw diet together to improve his physical performance, he talks about his research and his journey and it's very interesting. He is also the dude who started the brand 'Vega', I don't know if you guys get it in the US but they have amazing bars ;)
I think this book would be especially convincing for men :)
Here you can read his bio:
http://www.brendanbrazier.com/bio/index.html

Also, have you guys heard of Kris Carr? She made a wonderful documentary a few years ago called "My crazy sexy cancer".
She has got a very good blog: www.crazysexylife.com and she published a couple of books.

Voila!

Yeah, A LOT of people didn't know what the book would be about. Many thought it was just another fad diet book - which we women seem to LOVE.
On the flip side, everyone I know that has read it, really has liked it - it just seems to be that the people who didn't want to hear it, got really mad and posted some negative stuff.

But, I would recommend following it up with something like China Study - which is a REALLY in depth explanation of all of it - it backs it all up, you know, with out all the cursing ;)

I went to Amazon yesterday to look up Skinny Bitch and I was shocked to see/read the ratings for that book. There were SO many negative ones! Are people really that outraged because it promotes veganism, or do they think that the claims against meat in that book are false? I am really wondering what they thought the book would be about.
