Vegan Hope – Travel series.

If you are not aware, my husband and I have a pretty unique living situation. We travel full time. I’ll give you a bit of background – we lived in Washington DC for 10 years or so, and we always dreamed of leaving. Mostly, we like the sun, A LOT. Not that it is NEVER sunny in DC, but we just wanted a change in our life – a big change.

After fighting diabetes together for 5 years, and feeling like we lost so much of our life – we decided to move. Through a bunch of weird and very impulsive decisions, we decided we wanted to travel, full time.

So in one year we have lived in 8 cities, we have had meals in over 50 cities, we have shopped in 30 cities or so, we’ve traveled to the smallest towns and some of the largest cities. So, when it comes to vegan travel? We’ve got that pretty much worked out. So many people tell me that it’s so hard to travel and be vegan – and more so to eat healthy. Well, I’m here to tell you, I’ve been traveling full time, we’re both vegan, my husband is allergic to almost all veggies, fruits, nuts and stays away from gluten, and I’m a diabetic and follow a more restrictive vegan diet than most – and guess what? We’re not starving, and we’re happy, and we’re saving lots of money. So I thought I’d take the next several posts to talk about the cities we’ve been to – and how you can travel, and hopefully highlight some of our favorite spots to travel and some of our favorite vegan places.

*just a note, I’ll be highlighting some of our favorite places – not necessarily EVERY place we went, mostly because it would take months to go through all of that.

I really want to encourage everyone to support your local vegan establishments, and the ones you travel to!

In the next few weeks I’ll be covering:

Las Vegas, NV
Austin, TX
San Diego, CA
San Jose, CA
Los Angeles, CA
Seattle, WA
Portland, OR
Oklahoma City, OK (yep even there!)
Sedona, AZ
Tucson, AZ
Washington, DC
Vancouver, BC
Palm Springs, CA

Plus – how to drive across Texas, eating more than corn chips.
The best hotels for Vegans and even how to stay somewhere on a budget.
And for those of you who are interested – I’ll be talking a bit about traveling full time.

Let me know if there is anything specifically that you’d like me to cover, just let me know! We have covered a lot of ground in the past year!

I would love to hear how you manage when you aren’t sure you’ll have a stocked kitchen and you have to rely on what you find where you stand and a cooler with some ice packs for 10 hours or so.

    That would be awesome!!!!!!

This is such incredible information, thank you for sharing it! I’m looking forward to hearing about more cities in this series. If you have any tips for the South-Central states (Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama) that would be most welcome.
